In May 2015, David completed his Masters at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts. This Practice-Led Research project focused on the art of solo jazz piano performance, investigating alternative performance techniques developed through assimilation of devices from various genres and instruments.
This research resulted in a dissertation and was supplemented by a recorded component of four original solo piano pieces that made use of the techniques. Please feel free to download a copy of David’s thesis from the link provided above, and don’t hesitate to get in touch with any thoughts or comments.
